An annual fund is more than your year-end mailing… and it doesn’t mean a singular approach to your donors only once a year either. Instead, it is a year-long process that should include unique approaches to all your constituencies and that should be planned for now – before the next year starts.
Annual giving encompasses direct response (mail, email, telephone), corporate and business giving, special events, grants, and major gifts. In fact, just about all fundraising except capital campaigns and planned giving are done on an annual basis. However, without a strong annual fund as an anchor, even historically dependable capital campaigning and planned giving will be difficult to execute successfully. Your conference leader for “Building a Strong Annual Fund: Success in 2018 Requires Planning Now!” is Linda Lysakowski, ACFRE. Linda is one of just over one hundred professionals worldwide to hold the Advanced Certified Fund Raising Executive designation. In her thirty years in the development field, she has managed capital campaigns, helped dozens of nonprofit organizations achieve their development goals, and has trained more than 30,000 professionals in Mexico, Canada, Egypt, Bermuda, and most of the fifty United States. Linda is a graduate of Alvernia College in Reading, PA with majors in banking and finance; communications; and theology/philosophy. She is a graduate of AFP's Faculty Training Academy and has received two AFP research grants. She is also a prolific writer, having authored more than a dozen books, and is currently working on several more books. She serves as acquisitions editor for CharityChannel Press and For the GENIUS Press. Linda has received the Outstanding Fundraising Executive award from the Eastern PA, Las Vegas, and Sierra (NV) chapters of AFP (Association of Fundraising Professionals) and was recognized internationally with the Barbara Marion Award for Outstanding Service to AFP. She was honored in November with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Las Vegas Chapter of AFP.
