IRS audits can occur at any time. For nonprofits, they can be even more frequent than other types of organizations because members of the public can initiate an audit by filing a complaint with the IRS. Preparing properly for an audit can help make the process smoother and minimize challenges and potential changes. Understanding what may be asked - and what the government has a right to ask - are imperative to protecting the organization.
In this webinar, leading nonprofit tax attorney Robb Longman will explain how to prepare for the audit process. He will discuss what to expect at the audit and how to handle the audit meeting with the IRS. Robb will focus on what is proper within the government’s request and what can be challenged. Finally, Robb will detail the process of what is required if the nonprofit disagrees with the handling of the audit as well as options for appeal.
