Contrary to popular belief, the overtime regulations do in fact apply to the vast majority of nonprofit organizations (or, more precisely, to their workers). As of January 1, 2020 employees making $35,308 annually (or, $679 per week) are entitled to overtime pay when they work overtime hours.
Please join Zachary Kester as he covers (1) exempt (i.e., salary) and non-exempt (i.e., hourly) rules generally so an organization can assess which workers/positions might qualify for overtime, (2) explains the extent to which the new overtime rules apply to nonprofit organizations and/or their workers, (3) analyzes examples of applicability and (4) provides implementation strategies for nonprofit organizations.
