Soliciting, Negotiating, and Managing Restricted Gifts and Endowment Funds

For many nonprofits, restricted gifts and endowment funds offer powerful fundraising tools that can increase donors’ incentives to give. Donors may impose restrictions on the naming or use of gifts. Or when and in what amounts the gifted funds will be paid out, thereby designating the gift as an endowment fund. In the best circumstances, these gifts enable donors to impose their wishes in a way that aligns with the funding needs and priorities of the nonprofit donor. However, these gifts can also present significant legal challenges on many levels.

This webinar, led by nonprofit attorney Janet Rickerhauser, offers a practical guide to the legal issues involved in soliciting, negotiating, and managing endowment and other restricted gifts. Attendees will learn concrete strategies and tools to seek out and administer these gifts.
